Scarlet lifted her sunglasses and glared at Carmen. “Fine. But I’m not sitting up.. I’m comfortable now.” She nodded, placing one of her hands behind her head and the other resting on her stomach. Absently rubbing her stomach, she thought about having another human being growing inside of her. Feeling scared at first, she shook it off and felt warm butterflies. “But.. One thing I am not looking forward to.. Is getting fat.. Seriously.” She scuffed. “I mean.. Look at my body.. I don’t wan’t to lose this amazing body, and my abs I worked so hard to get.. All those crunches, sit ups, push ups, giving up chocolate and chips, pop…” Scarlet sighed. “Are you sure you don’t want to carry it?” She batted her eyelashes at her wife with a sweet innocent smile. Scarlet was obviously only joking around, she wanted to carry the baby more than anything.

Carmen sighed and nodded, “That’s fine. Don’t want the queen to be uncomfortable at all.” Keeping her eyes on the road, Carmen listened as Scarlet spoke, “Listen. You are not going to be fat. It’s going to be all baby and I think you’re going to be beautiful.” Carmen leaned over and gave her cheek a soft kiss. Chuckling Carmen turned back to Scarlet, “No, I’m sure. Maybe in the future, not right now. And don’t even try giving me puppy eyes. Not. Gonna. Work.” They finally got out of the traffic and were almost home. Eventually Carmen pulled the car into its spot as they got out one last time for the day.

Snapping out of her day dream as Carmen squeezed her hand she smiled. “I was just picturing us and our family.” She said happily. “I pictured a boy this time..” She nodded her head, placing her hands in her lap she tangled her fingers together. “It’s weird.. I want a girl so badly, but lately all I can think about is us having a little boy.” She shrugged looking up at Carmen. “Either way, I’m going to love it with all my heart.. Even if it isn’t the gender I would like to have.” She nodded her head. Noticing the heavy traffic around them she glanced down at her watch. “Oh great.. We’re going to be stuck in the 5 o’clock rush hour.” She sighed, pushing her chair back slightly. “I”m glad you’re driving, because this driving at this hour always makes me angry.” She chuckled, putting her feet up on the dash as she leaned back. “Wake me when we get home?” She more less said then asked. 

Carmen listened as Scarlet spoke smiling, “You’re amazing. I picture that too. Every now and again I let my mind wonder. I’d love to have a boy, you have no idea how much but like you said, whatever gender, I’m going to love them either way.” Carmen turned her attention back to the road and sighed, “Yeah, I know it sucks, luck I like driving.” She watched as Scarlet pushed her chair back and raised an eyebrow, “You’re not going to keep me company?” Carmen put on her pouty face hoping Scarlet would think about staying up, “Please? For me? Your sexy paramedic wife?”

Smiling she nodded her head. “Right.. I am in the best hands, because my sexy wife is a paramedic.” She smirked. Looking over at Carmen she nodded her head. “Yeah we can pick her up. If not she is supposed to take the bus home.” Scarlet shrugged her shoulders. “All I know is once we get home I’m taking a nice hot bath.” She smiled looking out at the scenery around them she slipped into a light day dream. She was imagining life with another child, it was a little boy she was imagining for some reason, as much as Scarlet wanted it to be a girl, she couldn’t shake that she was imagining a boy. Smiling to herself without even noticing she imagined Carmen and their unborn child playing soccer together, kicking the ball around on a hot summer day in the backyard of their new house.

Carmen just chuckled before shaking her head, “No, it’s alright. She can get the bus. We need to get you home and relaxed so we can start this baby making process.” Carmen laughed again at her wife, “Okay. You can have a nice long hot bath.” She continued driving through the heavy traffic when she stopped at a light. She glanced over at Scarlet snd grinned. The girl was smiling to herself, Carmen gave her hand a squeeze, “Hey what’s got you all smiley huh? You look so beautiful.” The traffic began to move again as she waited for Scarlet to snap out of her moment.

Grabbing out her credit card she paid for the medication and thanked the pharmacist. Walking with Carmen out to the car, Scarlet put her sunglasses on as they walk to the car. She climbed into the car, pushing her sunglasses up on her head she opened the bag to look at all the medication. Noticing some needles her eyes widen. “Oh.. Good lord.. I have to give myself needles!” She looked at Carmen with a terrified face. Scarlet could never give herself needles, that was something Carmen would have to do for her. Placing the bag down at her feet she buckled her seat belt and leaned back in her seat, putting her sunglasses back on her face. “Let’s go home.. It’s been a long day.” She smiled at Carmen and took her wife’s hand.

Carmen watched Scarlet pay for the medication and Carmen pulled out her wallet to give her the money back. Carmen followed Scarlet out to the car and hopped in. Before she started up the car she watched as Scarlet opened the bag. She placed her hand onyop of her wife’s knee to calm her. Carmen looked at her straight in the eyes, “Hey. Hey. I’ll do it for you. Don’t stress out about it and plus, I’m a paramedic so you’re in the best hands. Okay?” Carmen leant over and gave her a soft kiss, “You’ll be fine. I’ll make sure of it.” Carmen started up the car and nodded as she headed back to their home, “Do you want to pick Lizzie up from school on the way?”

Scarlet had glanced over as Carmen was taking a look at the clothing watching her with a small smile she knew that she shouldn’t be pushing Carmen into this. What if they didn’t get pregnant the first time, Scarlet would have been devastated and she probably wouldn’t want to try again, watching as Carmen walked over to her she wrapped her arms around her wife’s neck. “I’m moving too fast, aren’t I?” She whispered into Carmen’s ear, resting her chin on the Latina’s shoulder she kept her body pressed against the girls. “I’m sorry.. I shouldn’t have acted like I did.. We can go now.” She spoke softly, pulling away from the hug Scarlet placed her hands on Carmen’s cheeks and pressed her lips gently to the girls before pulling away slowly. “I love you.” She smiled sweetly at the girl as she looked into her eyes. “I love you so much.” She smiled again, pressing a soft kiss to Carmen’s nose she took the girls hand and walked back over to the pharmacy part of the store. 

Carmen looked at Scarlet with sorry eyes, “I’m excited. Like really excited don’t get me wrong, it’s just, I don’t want to ourselves worked up over something that- I just want to know that we’re buying stuff for a little person growing in here,” Carmen reached down and touched Scarlet’s stomach, “But the moment we have someone in there, you can drag me wherever and I’ll drag you wherever. Don’t apologize, you’re excited. We don’t have to go, if you don’t want to, I just needed to get that off my chest.” Carmen leaned in and returned the kiss lovingly, “I love you too and thank god everyday that I have you.” Smiling at the nose kiss, Carmen simply followed Scarlet wherever the girl would take her. There was one thing Carmen wanted to buy for Scarlet was a stuffed teddy she’s seen the girl eyeing. When she didn’t have Scarlet sometime she would come back and make sure she got that bear for her.
